Join us

There are different levels of membership that provide different privileges and access to our resources. 

• New Member - This level of membership is where you begin. We require all new members to join for a minimum of 2 years. Payment includes access to our Local Knowledge Manual for Toronto, which is our study guide for the Certification Test, and two opportunities to take the test. It also includes the In-Person Evaluation which is the final step in certification. It is our hope that all new members will take the test within those two years and upgrade to "Certified Guide." COST: $120 for 2 years

During the first 2 years, it is presumed that New Members would progress to the Certified Guide level, or remain uncertified and continue renewing each year as a Guide.

• Guide - This level is for members who have not yet completed the requirements for certification, but who are active guides leading tours from Toronto. Full voting privileges and the opportunity to join the Executive Board are available at this level. Professional development opportunities, invites to all events, and access to discounts from local attractions in Toronto and throughout Ontario is included at this level. You will also have access to our Job Postings forum where requests for guides will be listed. COST: $60 per year

• Certified Guide - Members who have been leading tours for 2 years, have completed BOTH the Local knowledge Test and the In-Person Evaluation, and paid the Certification Fee, can be upgraded to this level.  Details on the certification process can be found here. It includes full membership privileges, including those available at the Guide level, AND a listing in our Certified Guide Directory and "Featured Guide" areas of the website, with links to contact you as a "Guide for Hire." For those guides who are looking for work, this level is for you! COST: $50 per year

• Emeritus - Members who are no longer active guides but who wish to remain a part of our association with all associated privileges will be included at this level. We believe that retired guides contribute a great deal to this association and we are happy to have you with us. COST: $40 per year
