LET’S ALL GO “4” A WALK! — TGAT WATERFRONT WALK ‍♂️

Summer is flying by — seriously, how is it already almost the end of August? ☀️ So before we all get swallowed up by tours, schedules, traffic and another story we’ve told 147 times , let’s do something together.

Your TGAT Executive invites all TGAT members to join us for a Waterfront Walk on Thursday, August 27, 2026.

Meeting point: Southeast corner of Bathurst St. & Queens Quay

And this isn’t just a walk. It’s a chance to rediscover a part of Toronto we may think we already know — because, as every good guide knows, there is ALWAYS another story hiding around the corner.

We’ll begin at Ireland Park, with Rowan Gillespie’s deeply moving sculptures commemorating the Irish immigrants who arrived in Toronto during the Great Famine — one of those places where history suddenly becomes very human.

From there, we’ll stroll through the beautiful Toronto Music Garden, continue to the Marine Fire Department and the powerful Last Alarm memorial honouring Toronto firefighters who died in the line of duty, and then visit the Marine Police Department, where we hope to learn more about their work on Toronto’s waterfront and Lake Ontario.

We’ll finish at the Amsterdam Bridge, with views of the Toronto Islands and marina — and, hopefully, with a little more knowledge about our city than we had when we started.

But there’s another reason to come.

TGAT is not only about tours, dates, facts and professional development. It’s also about the people who tell Toronto’s stories every day. We don’t get enough chances to simply meet, walk, talk, exchange stories, laugh and remind ourselves that we’re part of a pretty wonderful community.

And if walking and history make us hungry… ️ anyone who wishes can stay for lunch nearby and continue the conversation — because we all know Tour Guides never actually run out of stories.

Comfortable shoes, curiosity and a sense of humour highly recommended.
